What I know NOW...

So Heather Dow from the Dow Family Blog is working on a little project and asked us to blog about things we didn't know before we became mothers...

  • I didn't know I could love a human being this much and be mad at them at the same time, lol... this would be my preteen we are talking about.
  • I didn't know I could have the depth of forgiveness that I do now...this would be the 7yo who didn't mean to tell me how big my butt looks to her.
  • I didn't know I could love the smell of hair... have you ever just stopped and smelled baby hair after a bath?
  • I didn't know nut crackers were frightening... even to the 9yo who claims he isn't afraid of anything.
  • I didn't know someone I was married to could make my "mother bear" come out like he sometimes does (NOT Erik, but my former husband)
  • I didn't know that breastfeeding in public would cause grown men to act like they didn't know what a breast was for.
  • I didn't know that little boys talked about farting, peeing and pooping so much.
  • I didn't know that a man who wasn't my children's natural father could love them so much.
  • I didn't know that doing nothing could be so much fun.
  • I didn't know that 7yo's can be taught to knit.
  • I didn't know that the smallest piece of nothing would really be something really important to a child and if I throw it away my name is mud.
  • But really I think the #1 thing I didn't know before I became a mom that I know now is that I would love this journey so much, that I would want to savor each second and that I would miss them so much when we are apart.

Thanks Heather for sharing this! What a fun opportunity. Many blessings.

Fabulous post!
(He is their "natural" father though, just not biological. I know it's none of my business, I just couldn't resist!)Xxx
