Mid week trip... aka God goes to IKEA...

We've decided to take a break... yeah I know we just got back from vacation... but there were a few things we wanted to capture on film to finish up the gr6 DVDs and with the data loss we had on the gr6 files last week, I needed to step back for a day and not think about it so much... so we went here:
Now this was Jacob's first trip and at first he didn't understand why we loved it so much until he got in there and didn't want to leave. He asked me why I liked it so much and I told him because I enjoy order... somehow that translated into a conversation about the order of the Universe and somehow I just had to slip in there that God loves order and that I bet he shopped at IKEA... now it is a big joke... we are just silly beyond all and so our little jaunt 3 hours south to Grandma's and IKEA was just what I needed to get my game head back together so I can go home, tackle my house and we can get the book finished up.

We also did a few other things... we filmed this place...

It was really neat - they were so friendly and happy to talk to us about our work and bringing the face of Islam to others. This is called the Khadeeja Islamic Center in Salt Lake City and we were just blessed by their friendly nature. Erik and I got to talking and we are thinking that the Islam portion of the gr6 DVD set will likely take up one whole DVD - we have a ton of footage and we have learned so much! I hope this will be a bridge of peace for those who are learning about Islam for the first time.

We also went here to film:

The Kennecott Coppermine Since gr6 is also about geology, we thought we'd take advantage of being so close to this wonder - it is really amazing. Jacob loved the trucks, they are as big as a house!
Now I am off to bed... I feel better about things and plan to go home and get back to work so we can put gr6 to bed and get the math book done.
OHHHH I also forgot to blog about this... there is a Waldorf inspired school starting here and they have asked if they can use our curriculum materials and if I would help train their teachers! I am going to see how it will unfold - staying really detached since we have so much on our this year but I was really excited at the opportunity!
Many blessings!!

We love IKEA too!! The sixth grade guide sounds like it is going to be fabulous. That is exciting news about training teachers and having them using your curriculum. Hope it all turns out wonderful.

Thank you! One day at a time... the first day was shaky for Erik but they'll figure it all out. The kids love him and they'll remember to mind, lol.
